OrangeTee pledges its commitment to sustainability, in the midst of the COVID-19 crisis

28 April 2020 (Singapore): OrangeTee & Tie, Singapore’s third-largest real estate agency, is moving forward with its long-term commitment to sustainability, even as it continues to support its agents affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and the circuit breaker measures to stop community infections.

The real estate agency is the first among its peers to pledge a move for sustainability and has launched its dedicated sustainability website (https://sustainability.orangetee.com/) to galvanise their staff and other like-minded individuals to do the same.

Supporting agents now and for the long term

Earlier on April 5, OrangeTee announced its resilience support package for its OrangeTee agents, which included a suspension of CEA fee deductions and waived e-Stamping submission administration fees, free COVID-19 and PA insurance coverage, and free CPD courses offered via e-learning.

To assist agents during the Circuit Breaker, OrangeTee launched a step-by-step business continuity plan that enables agents to continue conducting their business – from marketing to payment – without leaving their homes. As a complementary feature, OrangeTee also rolled out  virtual tours for potential buyers looking to purchase a new condominium, and consumer seminars conducted via live streaming for greater customer engagement.

Beyond supporting the agents for their immediate needs, the launch of OrangeTee’s sustainability movement is expected to provide the foundation to continue to grow its business for the long term.

“We are happy to be embarking on this journey towards sustainability. COVID-19 might create challenges for us now, but we cannot focus on this short-term problem and neglect the longer time horizon. For us, sustainability is our long-term business plan,” says Steven Tan, Managing Director of OrangeTee & Tie.

Four commitments of Sustainability

OrangeTee’s sustainability efforts are focused on 4 distinct areas – social impact, go green, responsible business practices, and technology and innovation – to ensure sustainability for its business, its employees and the community, and the environment.

The Social Impact commitment focuses on efforts to serve the community, reduce inequality, and build a resilient society. Under this commitment, OrangeTee has partnered Red Cross Singapore to organise a blood donation to keep Singapore’s bloodstock levels healthy amid the COVID-19 pandemic, with plans to continue doing this when the need arises. The staff and agents also distributed more than 1000 care packs with rice and other essentials to the low-income households at Toa Payoh in March, to help relieve some of their expenses.

The Go Green commitment highlights OrangeTee’s existing and ongoing efforts to move towards zero waste in their business operations. Since 2019, the company has successfully implemented a zero-tolerance policy on single-use plastic water bottles, and full e-invoicing for all of its business associates and partners. Moving forward, all OrangeTee corporate events will have zero single-use plastics in favour of reusable and sustainable options.

The Responsible Business Practices commitment puts the spotlight back on OrangeTee’s agents, staff and customers. Under this commitment, OrangeTee champions the use of transparent and accurate information to provide ethical, holistic and unbiased advice to customers. For its employees, OrangeTee has taken the pledge for sustainable employment by the Singapore Business Federation, with a commitment to inclusive hiring practices. The company has also embraced flexible working arrangements for its staff, for better work-life balance.

The Technology and Innovation commitment amplifies OrangeTee’s continued investment into technology innovations that can help agents achieve better productivity while on the go. Their in-house Agent App is capable of performing research analytics, accessing up-to-date transaction data, submitting documents, and issuing e-invoices. Their PropertyAgentsReview platform revolutionises the way customers select their property agent by providing honest, unbiased agent reviews from past customers with verified, completed transactions.

In addition, OrangeTee has developed a comprehensive market analytic tool called the Analytics Suite, which covers multiple market segments. This powerful tool will be made available to the public on http://www.orangetee.com/ in mid May. With it, anyone will be able to gain property data and track market trends for market insights free of charge.

Orange is the New Green

OrangeTee has adopted the new motto “Orange Is the New Green” in a bid to showcase their commitment towards sustainability. “We need to embrace sustainability for our growth, our team, our clients and our environment,” says Tan.

“The COVID-19 crisis has taught us that the world is more connected than ever before, that whatever happens to the environment or to other parts of the world will turn around to affect us, our way of life, and our livelihoods. So we need to stop looking inwardly, see beyond this crisis, beyond our industry to build a truly sustainable business.”
